Volunteer Info

We LOVE our Volunteers!

Adult volunteers, much like our CAs, are what allow us to run camp.  They are the backbone of camp - helping it run smoothly and hopefully having a great time!  Volunteers are always free, and always spoiled.

The Benefits of Volunteering -

OUR AMAZING BOYS AND TAGALONGS UNITS!

Because we need so many volunteers to help maintain Girl Scout ratio, we offer special units for volunteers with kiddos who may not be Girl Scouts, namely the younger siblings and brothers of  scouts. We do a lot to make these units special and fun, to encourage these kiddos to have a great time, but also to ease the minds of parents as they are volunteering.

By having these units, and at such a discounted price, we hope to make it easier on our all day-all week volunteers, since they can bring their young children or brothers to camp and they have a great experience!

Our Boys unit is especially for the brothers of campers for when their adult is volunteering.  A unit of just boys ages 5-12, they get the best of everything.  They get to do all the stuff our Girl Scouts do, including outdoor cooking (they actually get to go twice!), archery, axe throwing, slingshots, crafts, science, and more PLUS they get to have time to play on the local playground, go on hikes, and get spoiled.  (The only thing they cannot do that the other campers can, is attend Campfire or Overnight.)

We consider our Boys unit as a unit of campers just like the units of Girl Scouts, they just get to have a bit more freedom because they are not earning badges.  Boys attend camp the same time as their adult volunteer, and get a whole week of camp for $35.  It's an absolute steal!

Our Tagalongs unit is for children of volunteers 5 years and under who are potty trained.  This unit is usually quite small and our littles are the darlings of camp.  They just play the day away and are loved on by everyone!  Tagalongs are also $35 for a whole week of camp.

Another Benefit, DISCOUNTS!!

Want to volunteer? We want you, so we will give you all the discounts!

  • $15 for each day you volunteer, or one free camper registration if you volunteer all day/all week!
  • If you sign up to chaperone the bus, we waive all bus fees for you and all your family members, PLUS a free camper registration
  • We will also happily pay your Membership fee to help you get started on your volunteer journey!

We need YOU!

We are ALWAYS in need of helpers, especially adults to run parts and pieces of camp they are passionate about.  If you or a family member is interested in helping at camp, we would love to have you!  Financial aid is available for those adults who are joining to help out specifically at camp.  The trainings listed below are all online and can be done at your leisure.  All told, the trainings take about an hour of watching videos and answering a few questions to cement your knowledge of Girl Scouts.  GS sends you the info on how to complete them, it's a piece of cake.

In order to volunteer, all adults must:

  • be a current member of Girl Scouts, paid thru the end of September 2025 (the new GS years begins October 1)
  • have a current background check (GS does this for us)
  • do the GS 101 online training
  • do a Mandatory Reporter training (federal law for all those working with children, and now extends to those who volunteer with children)

Can't Volunteer Yourself?

You don't need to be a troop leader or parent of a scout.  We have had tons of families recruit a volunteer through the years.  We have had grandparents, aunts and uncles, bonus parents - you name it, we'd love to have them!  We will get them up to speed and help them have a blast at camp!

Who Runs This Camp, Anyway?

Wil-LO-Linn is entirely volunteer run.  It takes many, many hours by many, many people to run this 5-day camp each year.  In the 30 years camp has been running, there have been many wonderful, dedicated volunteers that have kept us going and thriving.  Those who do this behind the scenes work we call our CORE crew.
